Jennifer M. Lawrence became a partner in the firm in January of 2002. After graduating magna cum laude from Tulane University School of Law, she was admitted to the Louisiana state and federal bars in 1995. She has practiced with the firm since graduation and has done so primarily in the areas of life, health and disability insurance defense litigation. At least half, if not more, of her practice consists of defending claims for benefits brought under plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. She has been trial and appellate counsel in several reported decisions, including Berthelot v. Travelers Ins. Co., 973 F. Supp. 596 (E.D. La. 1997), in which the firm was successful in having a purported ERISA class action dismissed before class certification issues were addressed. She is a member of the federal, state and local bar associations, as well as the Defense Research Institute.
